Belief Statements:

Students are the primary concern of the District.


We believe:

•All students have a right to an education

•All students are capable of learning

•Students will be sensitive to the needs and values of others and respect individual and group differences

•Consequences are a part of life and match the actions that caused them

•Students will be recognized for their accomplishments Education is a process involving a partnership between students, teachers, and parents.


We believe:

•Instructional content is driven by the curriculum; instructional delivery is focused on the student

•In the continued improvement of the quality of education

•A multitude of instructional strategies are required to meet the diverse needs of students

•In meeting the individual needs of diverse learners and their unique learning styles

•Smaller class sizes are critical to quality education, particularly at the primary grades


Our personnel are essential to establishing the caring family nature of the Emmons environment. We believe:

•Reasonable and respectful communication is essential

•Our personnel are essential to the implementation of our beliefs, policies, procedures, and practices

•Personnel will be recognized for their accomplishments

•Personal and professional growth are essential for the continual improvement of the educational program

•The staff are role models that children will emulate


The facilities are conducive to a quality education environment. We believe:

• We have an obligation to maintain the facilities to insure a quality educational environment

•Long range planning for facilities is essential

•Facilities will be appropriate for intended use

•A safe and secure environment is imperative

•Usage of the facilities by the Emmons community is encouraged


The District's educational program is a balance between educational needs and desires and community financial support.  We believe:

•Educational excellence requires community support, both substantive and financial Long range financial planning is crucial

•The District's mission drives resource requirements

School District Philosophy

Mission Statement


The Board of Education has adopted the following mission statement:


Emmons is students, staff, parents, and community working together to prepare our students for a successful future through excellent experiences and growth opportunities.


This statement guides the actions of all members of the Emmons Community – staff, students, parents, Board, and administration. It is the foundation of the Emmons Board of Education Belief Statements.
